Dr. Karel D. Kovnat

About Me 

I earned my Ph.D. in Professional and Scientific Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and I completed a pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at Temple University Hospital in 1987.  In 1988 I completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Phobia Clinic, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University.  In 1993 after meeting all the requirements of the American Board of Professional Psychologists I obtained ABPP board certification.

I am licensed to practice Psychology in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina and I have been granted the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) by the PSYPACT commission.

In addition to my private practice, I am CEO and Director of Neuropsychological Research at Adler Institute for Advanced Imaging and President and Founder of KDK Scientific. I am passionate about making advancements that improve the quality of life for my patients and clients.

I have worked in both the public and private practice sectors and held various teaching positions, at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

My professional society memberships include the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and the Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists.

I serve as the Chair of the Government Relations Advisory Committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Pennsylvania.

My research on gastrointestinal disorders, Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive impairments, and cognitive-behavioral therapy has appeared in seven publications. Along with my companies I have been awarded over one million dollars in research grants.
